Getting help for your depression and other mental health related issues

There may be times when you might feel as if no one understands your emotional pain, even those closest to you, like your friends and family will seem unsympathetic to your bouts of depression and other mental health related issues. Please keep in mind that quite often they are not bieng mean, nor intentionally neglectful. Depression can be a very lonely and often misunderstood illness. There is still a huge stigma attached to mental illness and the public’s lack of knowledge along with ignorance does not make it any better.

Do not let that stop you from getting better and learning all you can about your illness. You are your best advocate and you have the gift of choice, choosing to get help and not live in darkness is a stepping stone to recovery.

If you feel like your symptoms of depression are becoming too much to handle, seek professional help, there are doctors who can guide you in the right direction, support groups are available in many cities and towns, utilize your internet and do as much research as possible regarding your symptoms and the kind of help available in your area.

Remember sometimes the emotions and feelings that come with symptoms of depression are not facts! There is a light that shines in spite of the darkness. Shine your light!  Do not let anyone or anything make you feel otherwise. With the right support you can feel better and live your life the way it was meant to be lived!
